GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The Gwinnett County Fire Rescue Department was out in force early on Tuesday to put out a high-voltage substation on fire.
According to the fire department, crews were at a transformer on fire around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
When firefighters got to the substation, they found a large fire emitting heavy heat inside the substation perimeter.

Crews set up a protective perimeter and called Georgia Power to help mitigate electrical hazards and support operations as they worked to put out the flames.
The department said additional resources, including teams from the Hazardous Materials Team and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, arrived to help monitor for potential environmental hazards and exposures.
The fire was brought under control around 6:30 a.m., according to the department, with no injuries or significant power outages reported from the incident.
Georgia Power staff are now working to determine the cause of the fire and make repairs, Gwinnett Fire officials said.
