NORCROSS, Ga. — The Gwinnett Housing Corporation will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the official opening of the Crest Pointe Village in Peachtree Corners.
The $15 million redevelopment project converted a former extended-stay motel into 73 affordable studio efficiency and one-bedroom apartments.
Located at 7065 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, the community is designed for seniors ages 62 and older, as well as young adults ages 18 to 24 experiencing homelessness or housing instability, including youth aging out of foster care, officials said.

The site is scheduled to have residents living there starting in November 2026.
The new community was formerly the Spring Swallow Lodge extended-stay motel, with officials saying the project represents the county’s first conversion of a hotel into permanent affordable housing.

Lejla Prljaca, chief development officer of Gwinnett Housing Corporation, noted the organization’s long-term efforts to address housing challenges.
The housing corporation said each apartment includes a full kitchen.
“This project represents a full-circle milestone for our organization,” Prljaca said. “More than a decade ago, we began elevating the voices of families experiencing hidden housing insecurity in extended-stay hotels. Today, we are celebrating Gwinnett County’s first hotel conversion into permanent affordable housing.”
Prljaca thanked Peachtree Corners, Gwinnett County and a variety of organizations for helping bring the project to completion.
The community is also bringing more than just a safe place to stay to its residents.
Nonprofit organization Hope, Thrive, Support will offer supportive services to help residents maintain independence and pursue personal goals, while OneStreet Residential will manage the property. Architectural services were provided by Praxis3 and AAPCO Group served as the general contractor.
“Where others saw an aging extended-stay motel, we saw an opportunity to address the need for increased access to affordable housing and we have created a community that residents will be proud to call home,” Karen Ramsey, CEO of Gwinnett Housing Corporation, said. “For a senior, this can mean a safe, affordable place to age with dignity. For a young adult, it can mean having the stability to continue their education, find employment and begin building their future.”
The redevelopment follows research conducted by the Gwinnett Housing Corporation that found 84% of the survey respondents in Norcross relied on extended-stay hotels as a last resort.
Gwinnett County funded nearly half of the $15 million development cost.
Additional financial support was provided by several organizations, including the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Gwinnett County Housing Authority, Georgia Department of Community Affairs through GA Rehoused, Capital City Bank, Embassy Bank, Primerica and several regional charitable foundations and churches.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
