Authorities release photo of suspect in deadly Gwinnett gas station shooting

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police are searching for a man believed connected to a killing at a Norcross gas station.

Relatives of Vitali Mialik said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police said Mialik was outside the Valero on Beaver Ruin Road Friday night when he got into an argument with two strangers. Investigators believe one of the men went to his Toyota SUV, pulled out an assault rifle and shot Vitali in the neck.

The victim's sister talked to Channel 2 Action News by phone.

“He was a good father and a good husband, and the best brother ever,” said Lena Mialik. “I don't even know what to say… what happened is just ridiculous.”

Police released photos Tuesday of the suspect, 19-year-old Nickolas Young.

Young has been charged with murder and aggravated assault. If anyone knows where he is, please contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300.
