DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators continue to search for a the shooter who killed two boys outside of their Dekalb County apartment off North Hairston Road. The boys were 11 and 12 years old.

“I thought the gun shots came through my house,” recalled one neighbor in the community.
The mother of the two brothers, 12-year-old Ja’hki Clark and 11-year-old Ja’marian Rolle, told Channel 2’s Candace McCowan her family was in the midst of a family barbeque Sunday, when someone began shooting.
She found Ja’hki shot in her dining room. He later died at the hospital. Outside she found Ja’marion shot in the head, he died at the scene.
“It should never result in death, honestly. It should not,” said one neighbor who is also a mother.
The boys’ mother believes this shooting stemmed from an argument between kids after a football game on this field in their apartment community last week. The mother and neighbors say older kids wouldn’t let it go.
“They kept coming back knocking on her door, you know. Knocking on this lady’s door as she’s telling them to leave her house,” a neighbor explained. “And what more do you do? You know, as a mother, what more did you do besides keep your kids in the house to protect them.”

Eventually Sunday there was a fist fight, and then the shooting around 6 in the evening. Also struck were a pregnant 17-year-old and her 39-year-old mother.
Channel 2 Action News spoke to parents at Stone Mill Elementary where Ja’marion attended Monday, where parents have been dealt the job of explaining what happened to the youngest of children.
“I noticed quite a few of the staff was outside and one of them was crying,” said parent Lynette Bowling. “Just explaining death period is hard, but they’re still not going to understand what it means, why it happens.”
They did have grief counseling services on hand at Stone Mill Elementary and Stone Mountain Middle School for teachers and students on Monday.
