COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The College Park Police Department and Councilman Joe Carn, Ward 2, plan to hold a gun buyback event on Saturday at Phillips Park.
The event is scheduled for 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 4400 Herschel Road.

Organizers said anyone can bring in a gun with no questions asked and receive cash in return.
People turning in inoperable firearms can get between $25 and $50. Handguns will bring $100 to $150, rifles and shotguns are worth $100, and assault weapons can earn $200 to $300.

Organizers said the goal is to get unwanted guns out of homes and help prevent them from being stolen, mishandled or used in a tragedy.
