COLUMBUS, Ga. — A Columbus woman was sentenced Monday to serve 20 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine.
Authorities said because she had prior convictions in two state and a lengthy record, Conier Long, 49, was sentenced as a “career offender.”
Long pleaded guilty to one count of distributing methamphetamine on Jan. 20.
After serving prison time, she’ll also serve five years of supervised release, according to the sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Clay Land.
“The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office takes a very firm stance on ridding our community of illegal and dangerous drugs,” said Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman. “We are proud to work with our federal partners to leverage resources for a safer Muscogee County. The MCSO remains committed to ensuring Muscogee County is a safer place to work and live for all citizens.”
Court documents indicate that DEA agents and Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a controlled purchase of drugs from Long using a confidential source.
Long agreed to meet the source to distribute methamphetamine on Jan. 25, 2023. She also said she had to report to her parole officer for a drug test.
Long met the confidential source at the Players Billiard Club on 54th Street in Columbus later that day, authorities said. She handed the source a cardboard box with 107.81 grams of pure methamphetamine.
