ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced on Friday the suspension of lane closures on Georgia interstates and state routes for this weekend.
GDOT said this is due to the anticipated increase in holiday traffic congestion for Labor Day weekend.

While construction-related lane closures will be suspended, the department reminds travelers to still be cautious because crews may still work near highways, and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures to remain in place.
GDOT said that incident management, emergency or maintenance-related lane closures could become necessary at any time on any route.
