Man arrested after shooting at Fulton County deputy, sheriff’s office says

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man who the Fulton County sheriff’s office says shot at a deputy who was trying to pull him over has been arrested.

Last week, a deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop on a suspected stolen vehicle at the Elite at City Park apartments on Fairburn Road when the driver began shooting at him.

The sheriff’s office said that the deputy was not hurt, but the suspect got away.

The Atlanta Police Fugitive Unit were able to track down the driver, 18-year-old Corliss Calloway, on Tuesday and arrest him with the help of the sheriff’s office K-9 Unit.

“I am thankful for the team effort seen today by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and Atlanta Police Department,” says Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat. “Our deputies are dedicated to making this community a safe place for everyone, and getting bad actors off of our streets. I am grateful no deputies were injured in this incident.”

The sheriff’s office says Calloway is a repeat offender who was out on bond at the time of the shooting.
