FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A full closure on Interstate 285 in southwest Fulton County was postponed, rather than starting on Friday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation had earlier planned to shut down I-285 between Cascade Road and Langford Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

GDOT said inclement weather is expected this weekend, so the full lane closures were pushed back.
However, GDOT still plans significant lane closures on this stretch of the interstate this weekend, two left lanes each way, which will reduce lane capacity and affect traffic.

A replacement date for this weekend’s full closure hasn’t been announced yet.
But GDOT cautions that more full closures are tentatively scheduled for Sept. 11-14 and Sept. 25-28, weather and conditions permitting.
Work crews have been reconstructing and rehabilitating concrete slabs along the westside of the I-285 corridor as part of a larger project, the I-285 Westside Rebuild, a $206 million project.
