SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — In the hallway where Westlake High School in South Fulton County has its Senior Wall of Fame, best friends Jaylin Ellison and Daya Brown are among the most famous.
“Every time a new one would come in, I’d be like wow! This is crazy,” Jaylin told Channel 2′s Berndt Petersen.
Ellison has been accepted to 48 colleges and universities, with $1.5 million in scholarship money.

Brown has been accepted to more than 50 universities.
“54 to be exact, at this moment. And I have over $1.3 million in scholarship money,” Brown said.
The whole school is very proud of them.
“Role models for everyone. K through 12 and those to come,” Principal Jarvis Adams said.
Their families go way back.
Their parents were good friends before the kids were even born, and they all raised super students.

“I do not have a super formula. I will tell you to be super present,” Ellison’s mom, Nikia, said. “Understanding work ethic. You figure out the foundation, and they’ll take it from there,” Brown’s mom, Farrah, said.
They did, and they were in it together.
“I’ve really just been very blessed and thankful to myself and all the people in my circle for all this work we’ve been putting in,” Ellison said.
“I’m very proud of me and my best friend and colleague as we go through this journey together,” Brown said.
Brown has decided on Duke University.
Ellison says it will either be Howard or Vanderbilt.
