Channel 2 Action News reported when Landry admitted to killing Stewart in court in July
The guardsmen killed Stewart while visiting the apartment of a woman who he has a child with.
Seeing a vehicle parked outside and suspecting another man was there, Landry went into the apartment, entered a bedroom and found Stewart with two kids.

Despite seeing Stewart was unarmed, Landry shot him in the chest, and Stewart died.
Then, Landry drove away from Fort Gordon, prosecutors said.
He was captured during a traffic stop a few hours later on Interstate 85 in Meriwether County.
Deputies at the traffic stop recovered a 9 mm Glock pistol confirmed to have been used in the shooting.
On Tuesday, Landry was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for pleading guilty to second-degree murder and using a firearm in a violent crime.
“While nothing can undo the profound tragedy of this murder, this sentence ensures that this defendant will spend more than two decades in federal prison,” U.S. Attorney Margaret Heap said in a statement. “We remain committed to partnering with our U.S. Army CID partners in holding accountable those who would commit these crimes on military installations.”
He is not eligible for parole, prosecutors said.
