HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — A jury found a former Bremen High School coach guilty on all 13 counts of child molestation and grooming related offenses, plus other charges.

Charges were brought against Geoffrey Matthews in April 2026 in Haralson County.
The state called 33 witnesses, including seven victims from Bremen High School.
Matthews was a girls softball coach. His victims were all males.
The trial lasted 11 days. According to the Tallapoosa Circuit District Attorney Jaeson Smith, it is considered one of the longest criminal trial in Haralson County history.
“I want to thank these brave young men for coming forward,” District Attorney Smith said. “The level of courage it took for them to come forward and help bring this predator to justice is unbelievable. Their willingness to speak up not only made this prosecution possible, but demonstrated tremendous strength in the face of extraordinarily difficult circumstances.”
Matthews is also facing charges in Carroll County. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 6, for his Haralson County conviction.
