HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A former minor baseball player and brother of a former Atlanta Braves pitcher died in a crash in Alabama.
Huntsville police said Matthew Kimbrel, 36, died when his motorcycle crashed into a commercial vehicle on Saturday.
Kimbrel was a former minor league player in the Braves organization from 2012-2014. His brother is Craig Kimbrel, a former MLB All-Star and Rookie of the Year for the Braves. The family grew up in Huntsville.

Huntsville police said the crash happened around 8 a.m. Saturday near Highway 431 and Cove Commons Drive.
Huntsville Police determined Matt Kimbrel was going at a high rate of speed as the commercial vehicle turned onto Cove Commons Drive. Police said he could not stop and slid into the commercial vehicle.
Kimbrel later died at the hospital. No funeral arrangements have been announced.
