Evidence markers point to the many shell casings of the shots fired during the overnight assault.

Police said at 1:49 a.m., officers were called out to 440 Thomasville Blvd. about multiple people being shot.

There was a large gathering in the area when some individuals went to the location and started shooting.

“It’s senseless, you know, really senseless,” sad resident Frank Walker.

Initially, police had been told of only one shooting victim, but that quickly changed.

“Upon their arrival,... we learned approximately five people were shot; ages range from 13 to 42 years old. Most of those individuals were transported by private vehicles, and they are being treated for their injuries,” said Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr.

Hampton also says one victim remains in critical condition. Their age and name have not been released.

Police are also investigating another location on New Town Circle near the original shooting scene, which is suspected of being connected.
