Around 4:45 p.m., Fayetteville police responded to the Target on Pavilion Parkway after receiving reports that a man was chased into the store by another man.
Police said they initially received reports that one of the men may have been armed. The investigation later revealed that the victim met two other men at the store to sell a cell phone.
During the transaction, authorities said one of the men forcibly snatched the cell phone from the victim.
That led to the victim chasing the suspect into the store, officials said.
Police said employees evacuated as a precaution.

However, it was never shown, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect, and no one was injured. The other man invovled in the attempted theft left the store before officers arrived. The suspect’s age and identity was not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
