The 11-year-old weighed just 62 pounds when he was found. — A woman is accused of abusing her adopted son for years. She will now spend years in prison.
Prosecutors say Chloe Jackson-Jones adopted the victim, now 14, in 2019 when he was 8 years old. Investigators said the abuse became increasingly severe after she removed him from public school and later isolated him under the guise of homeschooling.
According to authorities, the child escaped on July 5, 2023, by clawing through sheetrock in a bedroom closet and then jumping from a second-story window.

A neighbor spotted the boy walking down the street and called 911. When the child said he was hungry, the resident offered to take him to Taco Bell, prosecutors said.
Authorities said the 11-year-old weighed just 61 pounds when he was found.
Investigators with the Newnan Police Department and the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services launched an investigation that uncovered what prosecutors said was years of systematic abuse.
According to the district attorney’s office, evidence including photos and videos recovered from Jackson-Jones’ cellphone showed the child was denied food, forced to sit nude in stress positions for hours, subjected to ice baths, stomping on the child’s private area, tied to chairs by his wrists and ankles, locked inside a closet and strangled until he lost consciousness.

Jackson-Jones, 42, pleaded guilty in September to aggravated assault by strangulation, two counts of false imprisonment and 17 counts of first-degree cruelty to children, according to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Each of the 17 cruelty-to-children charges stemmed from a separate act of abuse, prosecutors said.
The victim, who is now living in a stable home, gave a victim impact statement at sentencing. Prosecutors said the victim is now doing well, earning all A’s in school.
A judge sentenced Jackson-Jones to 40 years in prison followed by 20 years on probation as part of a negotiated plea agreement.
The district attorney’s office said it would have sought a life sentence if state law allowed it for the crimes committed. Prosecutors agreed to the plea deal in part to spare the victim from having to testify about the abuse at trial.
