WATCH: 82-year-old Atlanta man takes down attempted carjacker at gas station

ATLANTA — Dramatic video shows a man fighting back against a carjacking attempt in southeast Atlanta.

The incident happened on March 11 around 2:30 p.m. at a gas station on McDonough Boulevard.

Surveillance video showed an 82-year-old man pumping gas, and then a suspect, wearing a plaid shirt, walk up to the man. The suspect pulled out a gun, demanded the man’s car keys and tried to snatch them from the man.

But the man then quickly grabbed the suspect and the two began to fight on the ground.

Right after the struggle, police said the suspect pointed the gun at the victim. The attacker ran off after he wasn’t able to get the car to start.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the fight and was treated by EMS at the scene.

Police are still searching for the suspect. He is believed to be around 17 or 18 years old and was wearing all black clothing.
