DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta child was seriously injured on Monday evening after she was hit by a car.
Georgia State Patrol says a group of kids were walking along W. Stewart Mill Road just outside Douglasville city limits around 5:45 p.m.

The kids told troopers that a dog started running toward them and the 10-year-old girl ran out into the road.
That’s when a Nissan Murano being driven by a 51-year-old Douglasville man crashed into the girl.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with serious injuries.
There is no word on her current condition.
