Deputies searching for armed and dangerous felon who shot at officers near SC/GA border

OCONEE COUNTY, SC — South Carolina police are searching for an armed and dangerous felon they say shot at a deputy in the area of the northeast Georgia/South Carolina border, WJBF reports.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy saw a black Ford Ranger driving on the wrong side of the road late Saturday night. The deputy stopped the truck, but the driver then got back on the road. The driver then got out of the truck and ran into the woods.

Deputies said the man fired shots toward the deputy who was chasing him. The deputy was not hurt and did not fire his gun because there was a house in the area.

Deputies arrested a woman inside the truck who had an outstanding warrant of child neglect charges. She’s been identified as Adriane Christine Coble, 28. She has also been charged with transporting alcohol with a broken seal.

The suspect, who is still on the run, was identified as Zackary Edwin Sterling Fiskeaux, 33. Fiskeaux is from Mountain Rest, which is four miles from the Georgia border. He’s faced numerous charges in the past, including charges of burglary and grand larceny.

Deputies with several agencies including the South Carolina Highway Patrol searched the area and deployed a drone, but did not find Fiskeaux.

Deputies have warrants out for Fiskeaux’s arrest on charges of attempted murder, driving on a suspended license, failure to stop for a blue light, operating an unregistered vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, reckless driving and displaying a license plate registered to another vehicle.

Anyone with information on Fiskeuax’s whereabout is asked to call 911 immediately.
