ATLANTA — A Delta Air Lines flight had to return to the Atlanta airport shortly after takeoff when a “smoky odor” was reported on the plane.
Delta Flight 1334 originally left Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International around 7 a.m. Thursday to head to Fort Lauderdale.

Someone on the plane reported smelling smoke and the flight landed back in Atlanta “out of an abundance of caution,” according to Delta.
“The flight crew followed established procedures and the aircraft landed safely without incident. Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels,” a Delta spokesperson told Channel 2 Action News.
Delta’s website shows Flight 1334 is now scheduled to depart around 9:30 a.m. and should land in Fort Lauderdale around 11:13 a.m.
