DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — An Atlanta woman was sentenced Tuesday for intentionally hitting and killing with a rental car the mother of a woman with which she was arguing.

Authorities said the women were arguing over a man.
Talisha Moore-Real, 35, was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, plus 10 years, by DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Tangela Barrie.
Moore-Real was found guilty on Aug. 7 of malice murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the first degree in connection with the death of LaQuita Baker, 53.

The collision happened on Sept. 29, 2025. The DeKalb County PD responded to a motel in the 3700 block of Flat Shoals Road at 10:40 p.m. after a 911 call came in reporting that someone had been hit and run over by a car.
Officers arrived to find paramedics trying to help Baker. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.
Two family members who were with Baker when she was hit said Baker’s daughter and Moore-Real got into an argument because Baker’s daughter was dating Moore-Real’s ex-boyfriend.
After the argument, Moore-Real rammed one of Baker’s relative’s cars and drove off.
Moore-Real then started arguing with her ex, who was at the motel. She drove off, and the ex-boyfriend shot at her car, according to the report. Moore-Real called 911 to report the shooting.
Moore-Real returned to the motel and drove toward Baker, her daughter and a 17-year-old relative. The car hit Baker, running her over before driving away.
Surveillance video caught the collision, and a witness photo helped police track Moore-Real.
