Channel 2’s Michael Seiden reported police have not released any information about a shooter or shooters, but detectives are working on leads and following up with neighbors who may have witnessed something that can help lead to an arrest.

A neighbor’s security camera recorded the frightening scene Thursday morning, after DeKalb County police and paramedics rushed to the neighborhood where investigators say someone shot and critically injured a teenage boy.

It happened just after 2 a.m. along Glen Briar Way and Briar Knoll Road.

“Me and my fiancé were woken up by gunshots, ‘Pop, pop, pop,’” said neighbor Jeff Scott.

He described the chaos after the bullets stopped flying.

“Next thing you know, I just see sirens, lights,” he said. “I come downstairs and there’s a young lady wailing and screaming, and they start working on what I guess was a young man right over here.”

Doctors are keeping a close eye on the wounded teen, who remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

At the crime scene, investigators worked into the late morning.

They haven’t identified a suspect, but officers recovered a gun in the front yard of a home that could help them make an arrest.

“That’s heartbreaking to know that somebody did that,” Scott said. “Multiple shots and he’s fighting for his life, and they haven’t been caught.”

Police have not released a motive or age of the teen victim. They are asking anyone who saw something to contact them.
