DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A former DeKalb County police sergeant who is already facing a federal charge has now been indicted in a 15-year-old cold case involving the kidnapping and sexual assault of two teenage girls.
DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston and DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Padrick announced Wednesday that a grand jury indicted Cameron Livsey, 47, on multiple charges, including rape, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Investigators said the crimes happened in October 2011 when two girls, ages 16 and 17, were walking through Exchange Park. According to police, a man armed with a gun approached them, robbed them and sexually assaulted them.
Authorities said the 17-year-old was able to escape and run for help. Police said the 16-year-old was later dropped off about eight miles away in what is now Stonecrest.
Livsey is the same former DeKalb County police sergeant who was arrested by the FBI in April on a separate federal charge involving sexually explicit images of minors.
“We will always do what’s right and hold bad actors accountable, even if that bad actor used to wear a badge,” District Attorney Sherry Boston said.

Police Chief Gregory Padrick said investigators remain committed to seeking justice for victims, regardless of how much time has passed.
“We cannot change what happened nearly 15 years ago, but we can take responsibility for what we do today, and we will continue to stand with victims, seek the truth, pursue accountability and pursue justice,” Padrick said.
Livsey now faces a lengthy list of state charges in addition to the pending federal case.
Prosecutors emphasized that the charges are allegations and that the case will now move through the court system. Investigators also said they will review other unsolved cases and are asking anyone with information to contact the tip line.
