DeKalb County teen’s hot dog business soars with new restaurant partnership

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Mason Wright, 17, feels right at home in a room full of stainless steel appliances.

“I’m super inspired and super happy they’d allow me to come into this kitchen and serve from their location and I can’t wait to get started,” Wright told Channel 2′s Berndt Petersen.

He is the founder of Mason’s Super Dogs in DeKalb County.

Channel 2 Action News first introduced you to him 3 years ago when the 8th grader’s hot dog stand began to really take off.

He is now a high school senior, has a food truck, and is a motivational speaker.

This month, Black Business Month, Mason was on the receiving end of a great honor.

He was named one of Decide DeKalb Development Authority’s trailblazers.

The nonprofit works to help local businesses succeed.

“We just wanted people to see that no matter what your age or stage you are in business, you can find success in DeKalb County,” Decide DeKalb’s Geoffrey Loften said.

And develop partnerships too, which brings us back to Mason and the kitchen.

It’s the kitchen at Hippin’ Hops Brewery in Northeast Atlanta.

Mason’s Super Dogs will soon be on the menu.

He says he’ll work this latest success into his next speaking engagement.

“No dream is too small. If you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life and to follow your dreams no matter what,” Wright said.

Mason’s “to do” list for the next year includes making Super Dogs a hit at Hippin’ Hops, buy another food truck, and become a Morehouse Man.
