DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A child was hit by a vehicle and critically injured in a DeKalb County neighborhood on Friday.

Police said officers responded at a round 5:43 p.m. to a report of a juvenile hit by a vehicle on Chupp Road near Evans Mill Drive.
It’s believed the child was trying to cross the road near the intersection when a vehicle hit them. The driver swerved the vehicle to try to avoid hitting the juvenile, investigators say.
The child was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The location is not far from Stoneview Elementary School.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to DeKalb County Schools to see if the district had further information about the crash.
