DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Four communities in DeKalb County had mosquito traps test positive for West Nile Virus.
According to the DeKalb Public Health Department, the traps that tested positive were in the cities of Avondale Estates and Clarkston, and two unincorporated areas in Stonecrest and Doraville.
Health officials said that while mosquitoes caught in their surveillance traps tested positive for the virus, no human cases had been confirmed in the county in 2026, year-to-date.
The county said its health department puts out mosquito traps during summer months to monitor for West Nile Virus, as mosquitoes can transmit it to humans.
