ATLANTA — Police need help solving the murder of a father of four on an Atlanta expressway.
Channel 2 Action News and the Atlanta Police Foundation are teaming up to help bring down criminals. Every week we intend to bring you stories involving Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
Channel 2′s Darryn Moore is investigating one of Atlanta’s first murders of the year. Ernesto Anderson was traveling west on Interstate 20 near Capitol Avenue on Jan. 4 when he lost control and crashed.
Police thought it was a traffic accident until they looked inside the car.
“When he hit the median, the tires blew out and somebody called 911,” said his sister Michelle Anderson.

Officers showed up and found Anderson shot in the head. He died at the hospital.
Detectives are calling it murder.
“He was only 31. He had a lot to live for, had all kind of dreams,” Michelle Anderson said.
Anderson was a devoted father of four young kids. His sister described him as a hardworking man who looked after his mom and dad.
“He was a good son who loved and cared for my parents. When they both fell ill with cancer, he took care of them completely,” Michelle Anderson said.

They have no witnesses or DOT video of who fired the shot.
“They are stumped for leads unfortunately,” Anderson said. “They don’t have any leads. We are begging and pleading for the public to help so they can solve this case.”
Crime Stoppers Atlanta increased the reward from $2,000 to $5,000.
The family hopes it will get someone talking to help police find Anderson’s killer.
“You took away someone who had some much to live for. You took away a father who has four children. I’m asking you to please turn yourself in and give us some closure,” Michelle Anderson said.
If you have any information on Anderson’s murder, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS. You don’t have to give your name to cash in on the reward.
