NEWNAN, Ga. — A 3-year-old girl was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital after she was hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening, police said.

Newnan police responded to Pinson Street just after 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 after receiving a 911 call about a child being hit by a vehicle.

Authorities said the girl had been playing in the front yard of a home before walking into the street.

At the same time, a vehicle was traveling along Pinson Street and hit the child after she entered the roadway, according to police.

Because of the nature of the crash and the girl’s injuries, she was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital for treatment.

Police said Thursday that the girl has since been released from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
