Ariella Grace Nur, a second grader at A.L. Burruss Elementary School in Marietta, died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening at Macland Road and Ernest Barrett Parkway.
“This is the toughest thing, man. That was my favorite person in the world,” her father, John Nur, told Channel 2’s Michael Seiden.
Police said Ariella was a passenger in a car driven by her father when he began a left turn and collided with a Chevrolet around 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Ariella was pronounced dead at the scene. Nur was not injured. The other driver, a 25-year-old Powder Springs man, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Nur said he and his daughter were almost home when the crash happened.

Now, he is holding on to memories of their time together, including making cooking videos. He recalled Ariella joking about the pretzels he put on a salad.
“Daddy calls these croutons, but I call them pretzels,” he remembered her saying.
“She was just so sweet, man, so loving, so, so funny,” Nur said. “She was just a beautiful, beautiful soul.”
Ariella participated in dance team and chorus, along with gymnastics and ballet. Nur said her curiosity and enthusiasm showed in everything she did.
“She gave her heart, her soul into everything she did. Hugged every child that she met,” he said.
Students and staff at A.L. Burruss Elementary are also mourning her death.
For Nur, the loss is especially difficult to put into words.
“They’re supposed to bury us, not the other way around,” he said.
Ariella’s family has started a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and repast expenses. Those who would like to help can donate to the fundraiser here.
