COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Two teenagers are in serious adult trouble, accused of bringing guns on campus. It happened Thursday at Wheeler High School in Cobb County.

Channel 2’s Michael Doudna said it’s been a frustrating start to the school year for some parents, who have received emails about weapons being brought onto campus.
The teens, who are both younger than 17, face criminal charges.
Friday morning, Wheeler families opened their inboxes to see an email about guns brought onto campus.
“It’s very disheartening; you immediately think about whether your child is safe,” Ayana Weeks said. “So there needs to be a conversation about how easy it is for kids to have guns.”
This isn’t the first incident in Cobb County.
Already this year, a student reportedly brought a gun inside Campbell Middle School, Channel 2 Action News reported.

And just last week, police arrested Jesus Hernandez for allegedly bringing a knife to McEachern High School.
“Unfortunately, we are living in a time where, you know, of course you don’t want kids to feel like they are living in a prison, but you also want them to come home at night. So we have to be very vigilant,” Weeks said.
In a letter to parents, Wheeler’s principal emphasized that the school has multiple layers of security, including officers and gunpowder-detecting dogs.
The principal warned that students who bring weapons to campus will face the harshest penalties allowed by law.
For parents, they are relieved that nothing worse has happened.
“I pray that all children are safe,” Weeks said.
