CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County police officer is speaking out after police said a driver dragged him during a traffic stop on Garden Walk Boulevard, then sped off, leaving him with a concussion and other injuries.
Officer P. Fender said he pulled the driver over for going 50 in a 25 mph school zone. After checking, he saw the driver had a warrant for his arrest.
Clayton County PD has identified the suspect as Christopher Harold Lovett, who is still at large.

Fender said he told the driver to get out of the car, but the driver refused.
When Fender tried to remove him, the driver threw the car into gear and took off, trapping Fender’s arms as the car sped away.
Fender said he was dragged about 10 to 15 feet before he managed to free himself. He couldn’t use his hand to break his fall, so he hit his head and briefly lost consciousness.
“That could have killed me,” Fender told Channel 2’s Tom Jones.
