Davis was wanted for Ashmore’s death on Aug. 12. Police said they were called to a home on Southlake Court near Jonesboro just after 11:40 p.m. regarding a shooting incident.

Investigators said Ashmore was at the home visiting his friend and playing with her son. The woman went to the door to go outside the house when she found Davis, who was her former boyfriend and the child’s father, standing at the door.

Officers said the woman tried to stop Davis from getting in the house but he had a gun. That’s when they said Davis and Ashmore got into a fight and Davis shot Ashmore in front of the child.

They said Ashmore died at the home while Davis fled before officers arrived on the scene.
