CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Passengers aboard a Delta Air Lines flight got an unexpected change of plans shortly after takeoff Wednesday.

A Delta flight from Atlanta to Minneapolis-Saint Paul returned to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Wednesday after striking a bird shortly after takeoff.
Delta Flight 2654 was carrying 187 customers aboard an Airbus A321 when it made contact with a bird after departing Atlanta on Oct. 7, according to a Delta spokesperson.

The flight safely returned to Atlanta, where customers were reaccommodated on another plane to continue to their final destination.
“We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel plans,” a Delta spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported.
