Athens-Clarke County sees crime down across all categories in 2025

ATHENS, Ga. — The latest data from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department shows crime was down in 2025.

ACCPD reported that from 2024 to 2025, all eight crime categories they publish data from were down, year-over-year.

Year-to-date for 2026, the police department reported the following incident numbers:

  • 2 murders
  • 77 aggravated assaults
  • 12 robberies
  • 2 kidnappings
  • 52 burglaries
  • 92 entering autos
  • 33 motor vehicle thefts

TRENDING STORIES:

Year-to-date, the police department had not yet reported the total for sex offense: rape, but in 2025, there were 10 fewer cases than in 2024.
