Deputies believe fight led to shooting death of 14-year-old, ask for public’s help

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has released video of a fight that broke out at an apartment in the hours before a 14-year-old was shot to death at a Woodstock house party.

Police believe the fight may have led to the shooting.

Deputies said the fight happened at another party at the West 22 Apartments in Kennesaw earlier in the evening. Investigators believe people who appear in the video ended up at a party on Victoria Road later that night.

Police were called to reports of shots fired at the Victoria Road home around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrived to find what appeared to be a large house party.

Police found a 14-year-old with a gunshot wound in the back of an SUV. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

A 19-year-old was also shot in the hand and elbow. He was treated at the hospital and released.

New video released by the sheriff’s office shows young people brawling and throwing punches inside an apartment.

Channel 2 Action News would normally blur the faces of juveniles, but the Sheriff’s office has asked for the public’s help in identifying the people in the video. No one in the video has been charged with a crime.
