Channel 2 helps deliver half a million bottles of water to Texas

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — The half a million bottles of water you donated to Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas are being distributed.

Channel 2's Tom Jones has been traveling with 10 tractor-trailers filled with water to help those in need.

Jones and his photographer hit the road around 8 a.m. and arrived Wednesday afternoon to drop off some much needed water to storm victims in Beaumont.

They rode with volunteers who drove around and passed out water in apartment complexes and at one shopping center.

Storm victims said their water has not been safe to drink, so the bottled water from Atlanta has been vital.

"I appreciate it. Blessings. Love to you all. Thank you so much," one storm victim said.

Six trucks loaded with water are headed to Houston and two trucks are on the way to Port Arthur.

There are also at least six trucks from the metro area, organized by the Georgia Sheriff's Association, that are also dropping off water.

The metro Atlanta area is definitely doing its part to help the state of Texas deal with this crisis.
