Fans plan to tailgate Saturday to celebrate champion UGA Bulldogs

ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia fans are excited about the parade for their national college football champion Bulldogs.

With a fancy new poster in hand from the UGA bookstore that reads 33-18 — the final score of the College Football Playoff National Championship — UGA student Ryan Evans has a planned grocery list for his tailgate party.

“I’d say definitely some barbecue and some Cokes and things like that,” said Evans.

The tailgate is a tradition before every Bulldogs home game. For the huge National Championship parade and ceremony, they’re taking it up a notch.

“I think it’s going to be a big tailgate day, and lots and lots of people are going to show up,” Bulldogs fan Cary Erickson said.

Erickson says tailgating is all about making memories, and everybody agrees the setup here is perfect.

“It’s an awesome experience. I think with everything being so close back here, it’s something that’s hard to get at other schools. Things can be spread out. In Athens, everything is so close together,” said UGA student Web Burn.

Web shared some great tailgating pics with Channel 2 from this season. Ryan Evans had a bunch too.

“Just being able to throw around the football, play some cornhole with the guys, and hang out while we wait to celebrate the Dawgs,” said Evans.
