Body with gunshot wounds found on North Georgia road, suspect arrested

RABUN COUNTY, Ga. — A north Georgia man has been charged with murder after sheriff’s deputies were called to Sutton Lane Tuesday.

Rabun County deputies found a man lying in the road unresponsive. He had been shot at least once.

The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Matthew Scott Webb, 31, of Clayton, according to a press release from Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.

Casey Ramey, 34, also of Clayton, was detained at the location where Webb’s body was found. After further investigation, Ramey was arrest and charged with murder and aggravated assault. Deputies said the victim and the suspect knew each other.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to the location to process the crime scene and further assist with the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office.

The case remains active, and upon completion, the case will be provided to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
