Two of Atlanta’s biggest basketball stars are taking their talents from the Dream to the world stage.

Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese have been selected to represent the United States at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup — becoming the first two Atlanta Dream players in franchise history to represent Team USA together at a 5-on-5 World Cup or Olympic Games.
For Atlanta basketball fans, it means the Dream’s dynamic duo will be chasing a world championship together in Berlin next month.
Howard and Reese helped Team USA qualify for the World Cup during a tournament in March and were officially named to the 12-player roster.
Howard, a four-time WNBA All-Star, is averaging 17 points per game for the Dream this season while leading the WNBA in steals. She has previously won three gold medals with USA Basketball and earned a bronze medal in 3x3 basketball at the 2024 Olympics.
Reese is making her first USA Basketball Women’s World Cup roster after helping the U.S. qualify in March. In her first season with Atlanta, the three-time WNBA All-Star is leading the league in rebounding and double-doubles and recently became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.
Team USA will face Czechia, Italy and China in Group D when the World Cup tips off Sept. 4 in Berlin.
The Americans are looking for their fifth straight FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup title — and for the first time, they’ll have two Atlanta Dream stars chasing it together.
