So far, the American Cancer Society of Atlanta announced it would be rescheduling its Saturday Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Atlantic Station.
“We are working on some exciting alternative plans so we can continue to celebrate breast cancer survivors and thrivers, recognize our sponsors and supporters, and ensure our work to end cancer as we know it, for everyone, is not paused,” the organization said. “Right now, we want everyone to focus on their safety as the storm approaches.
Marietta’s Chalktoberfest was also canceled, including the Craft Beer Festival and Community Chalk Competition.
“In the history of Chalktoberfest, we have never faced a weather forecast severe enough to require this decision,” event organizers said. With the potential for flooding rains, high winds, and dangerous conditions, the safety of our artists, guests, volunteers, vendors, and staff must come first.”
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced construction projects for the weekend would be on hold due to weather conditions.
