ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News is on scene with several police officers and troopers after protesters tried to make their way onto the downtown connector Thursday afternoon.
It happened on the southbound side of the connector near the Ellis Street exit to the connector.
No one was on the interstate when our crews arrived. We reached out to Atlanta police for information, who told us, “It appears GSP is currently making an effort at clearing the interstate. No further at this time.”
The protest over the Rayshard Brooks case being transferred from Fulton County to the State Attorney General began at the John Lewis Mural at the corner of Jesse Hill Jr. Dr. and Auburn Ave. Thursday afternoon.
Just after 5 p.m., Channel 2′s Richard Elliot came across a large police presence and several protesters still in the area. He said some people appeared to be detained.
