ATLANTA — Atlanta police confirmed an officer and a suspect were shot near an apartment complex in Buckhead this Saturday afternoon.
Police say the officer was alert, conscious and breathing afterward.
The officer was protected from serious injury by his vest. One of the two suspects was hospitalized.
Police said a woman called 911 about 3:30 p.m. to report someone was trying to break into her apartment at the Allure at the Brookwood apartment complex.

By the time an officer arrived at the apartment building, the woman's door was kicked in.
One suspect was shot in the shoulder and another ran into a wooded area behind the apartment complex. The suspects have been identified as Antonio Bell and Michael Thomas.
A Channel 2 employee spotted the suspects moving away from the apartment complex.
"He wasn't running, but kind of walking fast toward the train tracks and noticed he had a pretty decent sized gun in his left hand," she said.
She called 911 and police say her phone call helped them catch the armed suspects on Peachtree Park Drive.
Police arrested both suspects and recovered a gun.
The GBI has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
The suspects are charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and home invasion.
The police officer shot inside the apartment building is doing OK, police say. The suspect shot in the shoulder is in stable condition.
