Police investigate early morning shooting death in NE Atlanta

ATLANTA — Atlanta police homicide investigators are on the scene early Saturday morning of a shooting death in northeast Atlanta.

Police told Channel 2 Action News they were called out to the Oak Pointe Apartments at 497 Oakdale Road around 5:30 a.m. on a report of a person shot.

They arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound in front of one of the apartments. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Investigators believe the man may have shot himself.
