New green space opening with one of the highest views of Atlanta’s skyline

ATLANTA — Everyone loves a good skyline view, and soon you’ll be able to enjoy one of the best views of the city from one of the highest points in Atlanta.

It’s at the corner of 17th Street and Howell Mill Road in northwest Atlanta.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes learned how the new green space project will be underway soon.

“It’s in the heart of Atlanta. It’s in a beautiful spot,” neighbor Antoine Smith said.

The metal fence along Howell Mill Road and 17th Street will be pushed back so that people can enjoy this prime real estate that shows the beautiful skyline of Atlanta.

“They got a nice piece of land so yea that would be perfect for them to push the sidewalk back so we can enjoy that green space,” Smith said.

The hill will soon be open to the public for the first time in 25 years. The incredible view hasn’t been accessible since the 1996 Olympics.

There’s been a lot of development in this area since then, so this is a perfect time to open the green space back up.

The corner offers some views of Buckhead, midtown and downtown Atlanta, making it a great place for people to take pictures that they can’t take right now.
