New development hopes to build up part of southeast Atlanta

A new development is working with MARTA to build up an area of southeast Atlanta.

MARTA opened the “King Memorial” development today.

The partnership is meant to put affordable housing and business space near public transportation, to grow the city and give people an easier commute.

“We’re celebrating progress here today. We’re celebrating 300 units, a third of which are affordable, in the heart of downtown Atlanta, in the heart of transit, really allowing people to build on their dreams in a sustainable way,” MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood said.

The new development is right next to the King Memorial rail station.
