Alleged Ponzi scheme mastermind stole more than $100 million from victims, feds say

ATLANTA — An alleged Ponzi scheme mastermind Channel 2 Action News has been reporting on since 2024 is now in custody.

FBI agents arrested Edward Zimbardi in Fiji and have extradited him back to the United States.

During a news conference on Monday, federal officials said he is accused of taking more than $100 million from his victims.

Channel 2 investigative reporter Justin Gray has spoken with several of those victims over the years who say they thought they were investing in a legitimate business.

Instead, it was a Ponzi.

Zimbardi is in federal custody with the FBI in Los Angeles, back on U.S. soil, and is expected to go before a federal judge facing a long list of charges related to these Ponzi schemes.
