ATLANTA — Zoo Atlanta’s newest giant pandas are almost ready to meet the public, and their care team is answering the question visitors are likely to ask first: How can you tell Ping Ping and Fu Shuang apart?
The answer is in their faces and their size.
According to the Panda Care Team, female Fu Shuang has a rounder face with a distinctive ridge of fur between her ears that frames her face.
Male Ping Ping is noticeably larger and has a marking that resembles a “Y” running down the bridge of his nose.
Visitors will soon get their chance to put those tips to the test.

The Arthur M. Blank Panda Grove is scheduled to open to the public Friday, Nov. 6, giving Atlanta its first opportunity to see the new pandas in their habitat.
The pair arrived from China following a 16-hour journey and have spent the past several weeks adjusting to their new surroundings and completing their quarantine period.
Once visitors get an up-close look, the zoo says they may even discover their own tricks for telling Atlanta’s newest stars apart.
