ATLANTA — Atlanta’s High Museum of Art is celebrating its first centennial, hosting a block party and activities with fun for everyone to ring in its first 100 years of art.
Ahead of the big celebration, Channel 2’s Lori Wilson spoke to museum staff about what they’re bringing to the city streets in honor of the centennial.

To bring it all together, the museum is holding a block party in downtown Atlanta.
The celebration features, food, games, activities for the whole family and music.
Part of the festivities include a highlight of the more than 200 art acquisitions the museum made this year, which includes works by artists that have, in some cases, never been on display in a museum before.
High Museum Public Engagement Director Erin Dougherty told Channel 2 Action News that staff are always working to ensure anyone and everyone visiting feels like they belong.
“We just always want to make sure that Atlanta feels like they’re here and they’re welcome here,” Dougherty said.
The block party, which shut down a chunk of Peachtree Street, will continue through 5 p.m.
