Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles reopens after raid

ATLANTA — People heading to Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles restaurant in downtown Atlanta might notice some new signs out front to help draw in business.

Only Channel 2 Action News was there when a Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles location was raided back in June.

Management wants people to know that the soul food restaurant is open and ready to serve.

In late August, the Lithonia location closed its doors for good.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington spoke with a customer, who said the restaurant's legal issues won't keep her away.

"I really don't care. I mean, that's their business,” customer Masonia Davis said. “The food is good. It’s clean, and the people are friendly. Good service. I'm not going to stop going."

Washington also spoke with some employees about the effect they said the raid had on business and how they hope the signs will help.
