ATLANTA — A van that belongs to a dive team that travels the country searching for missing people was vandalized and broken into, and now its owner is asking for help.
The team has devoted their lives to finding missing people, but they stopped downtown on Friday to have a little fun and visit the Georgia Aquarium.

They parked their truck a few blocks away from the aquarium, in a lot on Marietta Street, where someone stole their very valuable equipment.
“It’s happened. It’s done. There’s nothing we can do about it but recoup,” member Lindsay Bussick said in a YouTube video.
A dive team devoted to helping people find their missing loved ones now needs help themselves.
Over the years, the Chaos Divers have built a big following on their YouTube channel, traveling the country to find missing people underwater.

“It’s kind of earth shattering. It really is. And you don’t really expect anything like this to happen,” Bussick said.
The team said the thief took their computer, which contains files from their last three months of work, along with their cameras, a drone and a gun.
“I’ve had nightmares knowing my gun is out there and potentially could take someone else’s life,” Bussick said.
The Illinois-based team is now back in the water searching for missing people in Georgia lakes, but until they can get their equipment back or replace it, their difficult job is now even tougher.

“I know to you, you just stole some stuff. I know to you this may be a victimless crime, but it’s not for us. It’s not just us. It’s the millions of people that watch us. It’s the families that we help,” Bussick said.
The team has filed a report with Atlanta police, but APD told Channel 2′s Justin Wilfon there is nothing new in the case. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
